The Failure Of The
Public Education System
Conclusion

"Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ."
        (Colossians 2:8 AV)

To anyone with open eyes, the State-monopolized education system has failed miserably. In an original attempt to abolish Biblical and Christian precepts, by setting up secular academics as the new messiah, the system, we know as "public education" has corrupted itself, and all who have fallen prey to its insidious agenda.
Since 1963 the public education system has been in a deadly "tail spin". Each year, state and local officials offer more and more incentives, coupled with higher and higher budgets, to "improve education." In spite of these financial supports, and new educational schemes, the public school failure is plainly manifested.
Academic performance is consistently on the decline. Illiteracy, moral decay, blatant, violent, and murderous acts are  considered common place in the state controlled schools.  Yet, each year the American people are burdened with additional school taxes in support of a crumbling effort to educate the youth of this nation. State and Federal Bureaucrats systematically offer false hope of improving the school system with tax dollars, yet, they haven't the vaguest notion how to bring it to fruition.

       A BANKRUPT PHILOSOPHY OF EDUCATION

The reason for such academic and moral debauchery, in the public educational empire, is due to a bankruptcy of philosophy. Author, and former Secretary of Education, William Bennet declared, "if they're [public schools]  still bad [after 5 years], maybe we should declare educational bankruptcy, give the people their money ,and let them educate themselves, and start their own schools."

There can be no doubt as to the educational crisis in America toady. What is frightening is that there are not many that are willing to acknowledge this, especially those in the education process. From 1963 through the present, reforms have been implemented over and over without any lasting benefit.. According to William Bennet's 1983 critique of the public education system, he stated, that because of its corrosion, the nation was at "extreme risk."
The simple fact remains, that there are more illiterates in the nation today then there were in the days of the colonies.

COLONIAL EDUCATION

Most of the Colonists educated their children privately. Some were educated at home while others attended private schools. The results are historical. Men like Thomas Jefferson, George Washington, Benjamin Franklin, Patrick Henry, Alexander Hamilton and so many more that cannot be named, were products of colonial education. It was principally the education processes from parents and clergy that manufactured some of the greatest political, and social thinkers of our time.
Although private education was common, during the mid to late 1600's, the New England Colonies had established public schools. In 1647, every village in Massachusetts of fifty families was required to support a free primary public school. Every family which had a hundred families had a secondary school.
These schools were radically different in both nature, and practice, than the so-called education of public schools today. Firstly, these schools were not federally funded. The Government of the Colonies did not allow for government funding of education. They were faithful to the limitation that the Scriptures placed upon the government. These schools were actually private. They were funded and controlled by the families of those attending. Government had nothing to do with the schools.
These would be equivalent to our private schools today.
